Huge blow to Hezbollah! Suddenly ceasefire in Israel-Lebanon, conditions of retreat revealed
New Delhi: An agreement has been reached between Israel and Lebanon on Tuesday to re-implement the ceasefire. Both countries reached this agreement after the fourth round of talks mediated by America. The purpose of this agreement is to reduce the long standing tension.
Under the agreement, some special security zones will be created in Lebanon. Hezbollah terrorists and their weapons will have to be completely removed from these areas. The Lebanese Army will have complete control over these areas. Hezbollah will not be able to carry out any activity in these areas.
Some main terms of the agreement
- Hezbollah must completely stop all types of firing.
- Israeli troops and weapons will be withdrawn from the entire area south of the Litani River.
- Complete control of security areas will be in the hands of the Lebanese Army.
- There will be strict restrictions on any military or other activity of Hezbollah in these areas.
Both sides said in a joint statement issued in the US State Department that this step is a big step towards comprehensive peace and security.
clear message to iran
The statement clearly states that future relations between Israel and Lebanon will be decided only by their respective sovereign governments. No other country or non-governmental group will be allowed to interfere in Lebanon’s internal affairs. This clearly points towards Iran, which is considered the main supporter of Hezbollah.
Hezbollah not involved in talks
The thing to note is that Hezbollah was not involved in this entire conversation. The detailed plan for implementing the security zones has not yet been made public. The Lebanese Army will assume the responsibility of maintaining peace and control in these areas. It is believed that this agreement is important towards reducing the tension of the last several months. However, the success of the agreement will depend on Hezbollah’s attitude and Iran’s stance.
If both sides strictly follow the conditions then the hope of permanent peace in the region can increase. This agreement is currently an initial step, but if implemented properly, it can prove helpful in increasing trust between the two countries.
