New Delhi: In the capital Delhi, security arrangements have been tightened on the recommendation of Delhi Police in view of the dharna being given by Cockroach Janata Party at Jantar Mantar and the call for Parliament march. Delhi Metro Rail Corporation has completely closed 16 major metro stations in Lutyens and Central Delhi region from 7:30 am for the entry and exit of passengers till further orders. However, keeping in mind the convenience of passengers, interchange facilities at major junctions like Rajiv Chowk, Mandi House and Central Secretariat have been maintained smoothly.
List of affected metro stations
According to DMRC, the stations whose gates have been closed include Rajiv Chowk, Patel Chowk, Central Secretariat, Mandi House, ITO, Delhi Gate, Lok Kalyan Marg, Ramakrishna Ashram Marg, Barakhamba Road, Supreme Court, Seva Tirtha, Janpath, Indraprastha, Khan Market, Jor Bagh and Shivaji Stadium.

Below mentioned Metro stations will be closed from 07:30 AM till further instructions. However, Interchange facility shall remain available at Rajiv Chowk, Mandi House and Central Secretariat.

Increased difficulties for passengers
Thousands of office-going employees, students and common citizens faced a lot of trouble for the second consecutive day due to sudden closure of station doors and trains not stopping at the affected stations. Passengers were stranded for hours during morning peak hours. A huge crowd of passengers gathered at auto-taxi stands and bus stops, causing severe traffic jams on the roads in many areas of Central Delhi.
DMRC statement
Under the instructions of security agencies, services at 16 metro stations have been temporarily suspended. Passengers must check for updates through official channels before traveling to avoid inconvenience.
Opposition targeted the government
Opposition leaders have strongly criticized the central government on this widespread closure of metro stations. The opposition alleges that instead of resolving the problems of the protesters and youth by establishing dialogue, the government is disrupting life by halting public transport. The administration says that these stations will be allowed to reopen only after security review. Till then, passengers going to Central Delhi will have to resort to road or alternative routes.
