Looking at the format of World Cup 2027, India and Pakistan may clash twice in the tournament. There may be a clash between the two teams first in the round robin and then in the Super-7 stage. If the teams reach the next stage, they can face each other for the third time.
After 24 years, the hosting of the ODI World Cup is once again returning to Africa. This time the tournament will be jointly hosted by South Africa, Zimbabwe and Namibia. The majority of the 54 matches will be played in South Africa's Johannesburg, Centurion, Durban, Kabwekha, Kugompo City, Cape Town, Paarl and Bloemfontein. At the same time, the final match will be held at Wanderers Ground in Johannesburg or Newlands Ground in Cape Town. 7 to 10 matches will be played in Zimbabwe's Harare, Bulawayo and Victoria Falls, while Namibia's capital Windhoek will host at least three matches.
New format of World Cup
57 matches will be played in the ICC Men's Cricket World Cup 2027. A new three-stage format has been adopted to bring more competition and excitement to the tournament. First of all, the Super Series will be played in which the three teams ranked 12th to 14th in the ranking will face each other in a round-robin format. In this, the winning team will reach the next stage.
After this there will be a phase of 30 matches between 12 teams. The teams of the countries will be divided into two groups of six teams each and matches in both the groups will be held on round-robin basis. The top three teams from each group, as well as the one better performing team from the fourth-placed teams in both groups, will advance to the Super-7 stage.
A total of 21 round-robin matches will be played in the Super-7 stage. After this the top four teams will reach the semi-finals. In the semi-finals, the top team in Super-7 will face the fourth placed team while the second and third placed teams will face each other in the second semi-final.
