Uttam Nagar Holi violence case: Delhi High Court strict on the petition of accused's mother, directs police to provide security

In the case of violence during Holi in Delhi's Uttam Nagar, Delhi High Court has given instructions to ensure the safety of the family of the accused. The court has asked Delhi Police to provide adequate police security to the mother of the accused and her family. This order was given after seeing the CCTV footage related to the alleged attack by the local people at the petitioner's house. During the hearing of the case, Delhi High Court reviewed the CCTV footage. In the footage, local people were allegedly seen attacking the petitioner's house. It was told that during this time, a family member of the person killed in the violence was also present along with the local residents.

Considering the incidents revealed in the footage, the court termed the matter as serious and stressed the need to ensure the safety of the family.

The accused's mother had filed a petition

The mother of the accused had filed a petition in the Delhi High Court demanding immediate and adequate police protection for herself and her family. The petition requested to direct the police to take necessary steps for the safety of the family.

Hearing the petition, the bench of Justice Girish Kathpalia made it clear that the law will take its course on the basis of the FIR, but it is not appropriate to leave any person unsafe.

'The petitioner cannot be left to become a victim of violence'

The court remarked that the situation is serious and the legal process will continue in place. However, the petitioner and his family cannot be left unprotected and it is necessary to protect them from becoming victims of such violence.
