If talks do not work out with Rajbhar, will Dhananjay Singh contest elections on BSP ticket?

In the politics of Uttar Pradesh, influential leader of Purvanchal and former MP Dhananjay Singh is once again in the center of discussion. Speculation has intensified regarding his next political move before the 2027 assembly elections. After Dhananjay Singh praised Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) and its organization, the question is arising whether Suheldev can once again go with BSP if things do not work out with Bharatiya Samaj Party (SBSP)? Although there has been no official announcement regarding his joining any party or ticket, his change in attitude towards BSP has definitely increased the political stir.

In the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, BSP had fielded Srikala Reddy as its candidate from Jaunpur seat. He had also filed nomination but later BSP changed his ticket and made Shyam Singh Yadav its candidate. After the ticket was cut, Dhananjay Singh raised questions on BSP and said that he and his supporters are hurt by this development. He had also criticized the party's policy of changing tickets. Dhananjay's allegations were then denied by the BSP. That is, Dhananjay Singh's praise of the same organization from which the BSP was seen increasing in 2024 is now being seen as an important sign in the political circles.

What did Dhananjay say in praise of BSP organization?

Showing a positive attitude towards BSP, Dhananjay Singh has praised the political capacity of the organization and the party. In the statement that came out, he also mentioned the influence of Mayawati and said that Mayawati is a big political force. The video of his statement has also surfaced, in which he is seen talking about his old association and respect for BSP. This statement of Dhananjay is being considered important because during the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, his wife Srikala Reddy's ticket from BSP was changed at the last moment. At that time, Dhananjay Singh had openly expressed his displeasure over the working style of BSP and had said that the organization has suffered loss due to the incidents of ticket changing in the party.

Dhananjay's old relationship with BSP

Dhananjay Singh's relationship with BSP is old. He reached Parliament in 2009 by winning the Lok Sabha elections from Jaunpur on BSP ticket. Later, his political relationship with the party ended, but after his wife got the BSP ticket in 2024, the political contact between the two came into discussion again. This is the reason that if Dhananjay Singh forms a political equation with BSP again in the future, then it will not be considered as a completely new alliance, but will be seen as the return of the old political relationship.

There has been close political equation with BJP also

Dhananjay Singh had announced support for the BJP candidate in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. This decision of his was considered important considering his influence in the politics of Jaunpur. Therefore, for 2027, he has the possibility of a political equation with both BJP and BSP. Meanwhile, if no political agreement is made with Suheldev Bharatiya Samaj Party and he gets political space from BSP, then Dhananjay can once again ride the elephant – although at present this is just a political possibility.

Why is Dhananjay important for BSP also?

BSP may have weakened in the last few elections in Uttar Pradesh, but its social base is still important in many areas of Purvanchal. Recently, the party faces a big challenge to strengthen the organization and regain its base in the upcoming elections. Dhananjay Singh has his political influence in Jaunpur and surrounding areas. In such a situation, if coordination is formed again between BSP and Dhananjay, then it can be politically beneficial for both.

Which party will Dhananjay come from in 2027?

At present, three possibilities are being discussed regarding Dhananjay Singh's next step – continuing the old equation with BJP, finding a political path with Suheldev Bharatiya Samaj Party or returning to BSP considering the old relationship. The latest praise of the BSP organization has brought the third option the most discussed.

However, until there is no formal announcement from Dhananjay Singh or BSP, it should be seen only as a political signal and possible equation. With the elections of 2027 approaching, now attention will be on which camp Dhananjay Singh moves to and which party's electoral equation his next move will strengthen in the politics of Purvanchal including Jaunpur.
