This day of 22 September is very special for Sanatan Dharma. On this day, the festival of Parivartini Ekadashi will be celebrated, in which people will not only worship Lord Vishnu and Goddess Lakshmi, but will also keep a fast. According to religious belief, by observing a fast on this day, a person gets freedom from those sins which the person had committed unknowingly. For this reason, a person must observe the fast of Parivartini Ekadashi. Along with this, it is believed that the person observing the fast of Parivartini Ekadashi should read or listen to the fast story, otherwise the fast remains incomplete.
On the day of Parivartini Ekadashi, the Vamana form of Lord Vishnu is worshipped. Along with this, this festival will be celebrated during Ganesh Utsav. For this reason, along with Lord Vishnu, Lord Ganesha will also be worshiped on this day. After which all the devotees will break the fast on 23rd September.

Parivartini Ekadashi fasting story
According to the story, once King Yudhishthir was talking to Shri Krishna, during which he asked Krishna about Parivartini Ekadashi of Bhado month and what is the importance of this fast? Then Krishna replied that a long time ago there was a king, whose name was Mandhata. Who believed in religion and also did justice to the people in his kingdom. He loved his subjects very much, whom he considered his children. For this reason, he always took special care of the happiness and sorrow of his subjects. Similarly, the people of the state had affection and respect for their king. There was an atmosphere of happiness in the state, however this atmosphere of happiness turned into sadness and worry.
Most of the people of the state earned their livelihood through farming. There used to be the right amount of rain every year but once nature got angry, due to which there was no rain in the state for three years. Due to this the fields dried up and there was shortage of food in people's lives. Then the people of the kingdom revealed this situation to King Mandhata. People asked him to find a solution to this crisis. Then King Mandhata thought about this crisis many times, thinking about which he went towards the forest. While roaming in the forest, King Mandhata went to the ashram of a sage. The sage welcomed King Mandhata. Then Mandhata told the sage that it was not raining in his kingdom for a long time. So the sage told an important thing.

The sage told that this Satyayuga is going on, during which someone in the kingdom has unknowingly committed a mistake. Due to which it is not raining in the state. The sage also suggested a solution to deal with this crisis. The sage had advised the entire empire including the king to observe the fast of Parivartini Ekadashi in the month of Bhado. After which the king and his kingdom observed a fast. Due to the effect of this fast, it rained in the state.
What are the rules of fasting?
1. During this fast, a person should worship Lord Vishnu. Along with this, Lord Ganesha should be worshipped. After the puja, the mantra 'Om Umaputraya Namah' should be chanted 108 times. Due to which the person will get a child.
2. Parivartini fast will be broken on 23rd September in the morning. During this, the person should keep in mind that he should perform Parana only after taking bath.

3. The auspicious time to break the fast on 23rd September is between 6:10 am to 8:35 am, so a person should break the fast during this time.
4. A person should donate clothes and food on the day of Parivartini Ekadashi. Also, one should avoid speaking bitter things to others today.
