Tatijharia, Hazaribagh, Jharkhand:- Taking major action against illegal lottery smugglers, police have recovered a huge quantity of illegal lottery tickets near 17 Mile under Tatijharia police station area of Hazaribagh district. Police have recovered 60 cartoon illegal lottery tickets kept in about 30 bundles along with a pickup vehicle from the spot. In this case, action is being taken to arrest a smuggler and send him to judicial custody.
According to the police, on September 7, 2026, at around 5:10 pm, secret information was received that a huge quantity of illegal lottery tickets were being transported by lottery smugglers in a pickup vehicle from Hazaribagh towards Bagodar via Tatijharia. On the instructions of the senior officer for verification of information and prompt action, P.A.N. A raiding team was formed under the leadership of co-station in-charge Indrajit Kumar. When the raiding team reached near 17 Mile Tatijharia, a white colored pickup vehicle was seen coming from Hazaribagh.
Seeing the police vehicle, the driver tried to run away by parking the pickup on the road, but with the help of the armed forces, the police caught him. Upon search, 30 bundles sealed with plastic bags were found in the trunk of pickup vehicle number JH 02 BW 3718. Two cartoons in each bundle, thus a total of 60 cartoons of illegal lottery tickets were recovered. According to the police, there were about 1,500 papers in each cartoon, i.e. a total of about 90 thousand papers. A total of 21 lottery tickets with different names were printed on each paper.
During interrogation of the caught driver, he was identified as Vikash Kumar Prajapati (27 years), father Sohan Prajapati, village Silwar, police station Muffasil, district Hazaribagh. During interrogation, the arrested accused told the police that the said illegal lottery tickets were being taken from Hazaribagh to Dhanbad. Apart from the illegal lottery tickets, the police have also seized the pickup vehicle used in smuggling.
In the matter, under Tatijharia police station case number 48/26, dated 08 September 2026, FIR under various sections of BNS 336(3), 336(4), 338, 340(2), 318(4), 319(2), 112(2), 297(1) and section 7(3) of Lottery (Regulation) Act 1998. Has been registered. The process of sending the arrested accused to judicial custody is being done. Police station in-charge P.A.N. was in the raiding team. Indrajit Kumar, S.A.N. Satendra Yadav and armed forces personnel of Tatijharia police station were included. The police is now busy gathering information about other people associated with this illegal lottery network.
