IMD Alert: Heat will increase in April, heat wave wreaks havoc in many states, chances of rain in Northeast
New Delhi: The slight relief received across the country in the beginning of April now seems to be gradually ending and the heat has started showing its effect again. The temperature is increasing rapidly in many areas and heat waves are increasing the problems of the people. In such a situation, people once again need to be cautious amid the changing weather.
According to the latest forecast of the India Meteorological Department, there are indications of major changes in the weather of the country from April 14. While on one hand the heat will increase rapidly in North-West and Central India, on the other hand, rain and thunderstorms may be seen in North-Eastern states, Western Himalayan regions and some parts of South India.
Weather will change due to upper wind system
According to the Meteorological Department, the cyclonic circulation in the upper air around Pakistan and Rajasthan remains active. Apart from this, similar seasonal activities are also observed in the north-eastern part of Bihar and central part of Assam.
The east-west trough extending from Uttar Pradesh to Manipur and the north-south trough active from Bihar to Tamil Nadu are also affecting the weather. Along with this, a high speed sub-tropical westerly jet stream is active over north-west India. A new weak western disturbance may also affect the western Himalayan regions from the night of 15 April.
Temperature crossed 43 degrees
The temperature is increasing rapidly in many parts of the country. The maximum temperature in north-west India may increase by 4 to 6 degrees Celsius in the next few days.
There is a possibility of increase in temperature by 2 to 5 degrees in Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, Chhattisgarh and Maharashtra. At present, the highest temperature in the country has been recorded at 43.8 degrees Celsius in Akola, Maharashtra.
Danger of heat wave in these states
There is a possibility of heat wave in parts of Saurashtra-Kutch, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand and Karnataka between 14 to 19 April.
Whereas in Bihar, Odisha, Gujarat, Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Andhra Pradesh, hot and humid weather can trouble people. The effect of heat will be felt more in these areas.
Rainfall in Northeast and Mountains
Widespread rain, thunderstorm and strong winds are expected in Northeast India. There will be rain and thundershowers in Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura.
In some areas, strong winds can blow at a speed of 40-50 kilometers per hour. There is a possibility of heavy rain in the sub-Himalayan areas of West Bengal and Sikkim.
At the same time, the effect of rain and storm can be seen in Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand between 17 to 19 April.
Heat will increase in Delhi, there will be no relief
The temperature will continuously increase in the coming five days in the capital Delhi. There is a possibility of increase in maximum temperature by 4 to 5 degrees, due to which the effect of heat will intensify.
The temperature may go above normal in the next 24 hours. Strong sunlight and hot winds will trouble people during the day, while at night also they will feel hot due to increase in temperature by 3 to 4 degrees. At present there is no sign of rain, but humidity may increase.
Condition of Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand
At present the temperature in Uttar Pradesh is around normal, but it may increase by 2 to 4 degrees in the coming days. There will be strong sunshine and hot winds during the day. At present there is no indication of any major rain system being active.
There is a possibility of light to moderate rain and thundershowers in Uttarakhand on April 17 and 18. There may be a slight drop in temperature due to cloud cover in the hilly areas.
Humidity will increase problems in Bihar-Jharkhand
The temperature in Bihar will gradually increase by 2 to 4 degrees and the humid weather will trouble people. Due to more moisture in the air, you will feel more heat.
Heatwave like situation may occur in Jharkhand on 17th and 18th April. Although light rain or clouds may provide relief at some places, overall the effect of heat will remain.
Overall, after April 14, the weather of the country will present two different pictures. On one hand, there will be relief from rain and storm in the North-East and hilly areas, while on the other hand, severe heat and heat wave in the plains and central India will increase the problems of the people. In such a situation, the Meteorological Department has advised people to be careful, drink more water and avoid sunlight.
