IMD Alert: Warning of heavy rain and storm in 19 states, possibility of worsening weather from Delhi to Bihar

IMD Alert: The weather patterns across the country have changed once again. On May 12, the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a warning regarding the possibility of heavy rain, thunderstorm and lightning in a total of 19 states including Uttar Pradesh and Bihar. There is also a possibility of strong winds blowing at a speed of 80 to 85 kilometers per hour in many areas.

There is a forecast of strong thunderstorm with moderate rain in the national capital Delhi on Monday. Yellow alert has been issued for all the major districts of Delhi, New Delhi, Central, South, South-West, West, North-West, East and South-East Delhi. There is a possibility of rain with thunder in the next few hours. During this period, the wind speed is expected to be 30 to 40 kilometers per hour, which may increase to 60 kilometers per hour for some time.

Yellow alert in Uttar Pradesh

Yellow alert has been declared in many districts of Uttar Pradesh due to rain and strong winds. The maximum temperature in Lucknow is expected to be around 37 degrees Celsius and the minimum temperature will be around 27 degrees Celsius.

At the same time, the weather is likely to be more affected in many parts of Bihar. Warning of heavy rain and thunderstorm has been issued in many districts including West Champaran, Gaya, Vaishali, Darbhanga, Madhubani, Supaul, Purnia, Katihar and Kishanganj. Strong winds up to 70 kilometers per hour can blow in these areas and there will be a danger of lightning. The maximum temperature in Patna is expected to be 34 degrees and the minimum temperature will be 26 degrees Celsius.

Weather in hills and other states

There are chances of worsening weather in the hilly areas of Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh. In Nainital, Dehradun, Chamoli and Pithoragarh, winds can blow at a speed of 60 kilometers per hour along with heavy rain. Warning of heavy rain and stormy conditions has been issued in Shimla, Mandi, Kangra and Chamba of Himachal Pradesh.

Apart from this, there is a possibility of rain, storm and strong winds in many districts of Punjab, Jammu and Kashmir, Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh. In Jaipur, Rajasthan, the temperature can reach 42 degrees Celsius, while in Bhopal, there can be fluctuations in the weather along with heat.
