India's rise in global economy: IMF increases India GDP growth forecast in FY27, from 6.4% to 7%

IMF On India Economy: Despite the ongoing war in Gulf countries, American tariffs and rising prices of crude oil in the global market, India has once again made a dent in the global economy. The International Monetary Fund (IMF) has released a very excellent report on the Indian economy. IMF has increased India’s GDP growth rate estimate to 7% for 2026-27. Also, the estimate for FY27-28 has also been increased to 7%. This means that India’s economy will grow at a fast pace.

Let us tell you that despite the rising prices of crude oil in the market, the way the Indian market is standing strongly has attracted the attention of economists all over the world. The result of this is that even big organizations like the World Bank and OECD are praising India’s speed. From World Bank to OECD, everyone has increased India’s GDP estimates in their reports.

According to the report of Financial Express, in its latest ‘World Economic Outlook’ report released on Tuesday, IMF has also increased the growth estimate for the financial year 2028 by 30 basis points to 7%. IMF says that India’s economy is running faster than expected on the basis of strong service sector and domestic demand. The International Monetary Fund says that the reason for India’s progress is not any external factor, but its own demographic situation. With increasing demand in the domestic market and continuous structural reforms, India has become one of the fastest growing economies in the world.

Domestic demand gave new strength

IMF’s October 2026 ‘World Economic Outlook’ report clearly states that India is shining apart from others. The estimate which was 6.4 percent in July has been increased by 0.6 percent. If compared with the estimate of April, there has been a jump of 0.5 percent. Along with this, the growth rate for 2027 has also been estimated at 7 percent. According to the report, the tremendous demand for goods within the country and the excellent performance of the service sector have made this growth possible. People are shopping heavily, due to which money is circulating in the market.

China is defeated, India is happy

At the same time, China, the world’s second largest economy, is going through difficult times at the moment. According to the IMF, China’s growth will fall to 4.5 percent in 2026. This figure is expected to fall to 4 percent in 2027. Prolonged uncertainty has affected the Chinese market. Not only China, global growth is also going to slow down to 3.1 percent in 2026 and 3.4 percent in 2027.
