Mathura: In view of the crowd of lakhs of devotees who will gather in Mathura on September 4 on Shri Krishna Janmashtami, the police administration has prepared a blueprint for security and traffic arrangements. To control the huge crowd of devotees and the pressure of vehicles, additional police forces from more than eight districts of Agra zone will reach Mathura. About four thousand policemen and PAC personnel will be deployed to protect the city and major religious places.
Devotees from all over the country are likely to reach Mathura on Janmashtami. In view of this, barriers will be installed at 129 places in the city to maintain the smooth traffic system. Along with this, 24 parking spaces are being prepared. Vehicles coming from outside will be stopped at designated parking spots. From here, there will be arrangements to send the devotees on foot towards Shri Krishna's birthplace, so that the pressure of vehicles inside the city can be reduced.
Police forces will arrive from seven districts
Apart from Mathura, police forces have also been called from Agra, Firozabad, Mainpuri, Aligarh, Kasganj, Etah and Hathras to strengthen the security system. Apart from this, demand for additional forces has also been made from other districts of the state. Police and PAC personnel will be deployed at major intersections, entry roads, parking lots, temple areas and crowded places.
Three levels of security
The security of Shri Krishna Janmasthan and Shahi Idgah Mosque has already been done in three levels. The entire security area has been divided into Red, Yellow and Green zones. The red zone includes the main area of Shri Krishna Janmasthan and Shahi Idgah Mosque. The outer area around both the major sites has been kept in the Yellow Zone and the area outside it has been kept in the Green Zone.
There is 24-hour deployment of CRPF, PAC, bomb disposal squad and fire personnel along with UP Police at both the sensitive sites. In view of the crowd of devotees during Janmashtami, security arrangements will be further strengthened by deploying additional forces at these places.
Special focus on crowd management
Crowd management has been given highest priority in the police plan. The movement of devotees will be controlled by installing barriers at the entry and exit routes. Joint teams of traffic police and local police will be deployed on major routes. Special arrangements are also being made to ensure safe movement of devotees from the parking lots to the temple area.
Crowd pressure is likely to be highest during religious events taking place at Shri Krishna's birthplace on the night of Janmashtami. In view of this, the police force will be deployed in different sectors and the responsibility of each sector will be determined. Along with the security arrangements, the police will also keep a special eye on the traffic operations and the convenience of the devotees.
