Health Desk. Many problems related to the reproductive system of women also include infection in the cervix i.e. the mouth of the uterus. In medical language it is called Cervicitis. This problem can be caused by some sexually transmitted infections, including bacterial or viral infections. Many times its obvious symptoms are not visible in the beginning, hence the changes in the body should not be ignored.
Why does Cervical Infection occur?
There can be many reasons behind inflammation or infection in the cervix. Sexually transmitted infections like chlamydia and gonorrhea are among its main causes. Apart from this, bacterial imbalance, allergy to some products or irritation in the cervix can also cause problems.
These 5 symptoms can indicate
1. Abnormal vaginal dischargeDischarge that is different in color, odor, or quantity than normal may be a sign.
2. Burning sensation during urination: If there is an infection, a burning sensation or pain may be felt while urinating.
3.Abnormal Bleeding: If there is bleeding between periods or after intercourse, it is important to get it checked.
4. Pain in lower abdomen: Pain and heaviness in the pelvic area or lower abdomen may also be associated with infection in some cases.
What to do if symptoms appear?
If any of these symptoms persist, it is better to consult a gynecologist instead of taking medicine on your own. The doctor can decide the treatment as per the need by doing physical examination and testing related to infection. Proper treatment is possible only after identifying the true cause.
