Former Prime Minister of Pakistan Imran Khan has been behind bars since October 2023. He was shifted to Shifa International Hospital in Islamabad on Wednesday night after a long gap of 9 months. According to a spokesman for Imran's party Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and Pakistani media reports, after a medical examination at the hospital, doctors recommended his return to prison. After that he was again sent back to prison.
The Supreme Court of Pakistan issued a major order on Tuesday. It was informed that within 48 hours the sick Imran should be taken to the hospital for a health check-up. Similarly, the 73-year-old former prime minister of Pakistan was taken to the hospital in the middle of the night for a health check-up. Fearing that Imran's fans and PTI supporters might throng the hospital premises, security forces cordoned off the entire premises. Even then, scores of Tehreek-e-Insaf worker-supporters gathered in the vicinity of the hospital to catch a glimpse of their leader.
It is learned that his sister met Imran in jail on Wednesday before being transferred to the hospital. He also met his wife Bushra Bibi. This is what the media claims. It is known that Imran's sister met him for fifteen minutes. However, what exactly happened between them in the conference room of the jail was not made public. The Supreme Court has ordered that Imran's issue cannot be politicized in any way. So it is believed that his family is keeping quiet out of caution.
