Imran Khan Health Update: A special team of doctors from Shifa International and PIMS has reached Adiala Jail to examine former Prime Minister of Pakistan and cricket legend Imran Khan. Jail sources say that Khan's eyes and heart can be checked in Adiala jail. Khan remains detained in Rawalpindi's Adiala Jail, where his deteriorating health, prolonged isolation and limited access to medical care have become a matter of grave international and humanitarian concern.

Specialist doctors have examined Khan's health. Sources say that the medical report will decide whether Khan needs to be transferred to the hospital or not. A major cause of concern is Khan's right eye. His legal team and family said he suffered from central retinal vein occlusion (CRVO) and that he had lost about 85% of the vision in his right eye due to medical negligence by prison authorities (a charge the government denies).

The latest medical reports received from the jail reveal that Khan has suffered from extreme anxiety, mental stress, rapid heartbeat and dangerously fluctuating high blood pressure due to his medical condition. In August 2026, the Supreme Court of Pakistan intervened and ordered that the 73-year-old leader be immediately transferred to Shifa International Hospital for treatment by an independent medical board. However, after this a political deadlock arose. Citing security concerns, officials ignored the private hospital's order and shifted Khan to the state-run Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) at midnight.
After a brief examination by a Combined Medical Board, the government declared Khan “medically fit” and immediately sent him back to Adiala Jail. The official jail update claims that Khan has made a full recovery, has been given “B Class” jail facilities, exercises for two hours daily, and gets checkups three times a day. On the contrary, his legal team intends to file contempt of court proceedings regarding his hasty transfer.
