IND-AFG: Afghanistan lost by 170 runs; India won the series by winning the second ODI

The second match of the ongoing three-match ODI series between India and Afghanistan was played on June 17. This match took place at Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow. In this match, Team India made a big score, which the Afghanistan team could not achieve. For this reason, India won the match by 170 runs and also captured the series.

 

It is noteworthy that the first ODI between India and Afghanistan was played on June 13, which India won by 7 wickets. The third ODI between the two teams is to be held on June 17. Indian batsmen and bowlers performed very well in the second ODI.

India’s innings

Afghanistan won the toss and decided to bowl first. The Indian team, which came to bat first, had a slow start but gradually the team gained momentum. For India, Shubman Gill batted brilliantly and scored 154 runs in 110 balls. Ishan Kishan also played a tremendous innings and scored 125 runs in 79 balls. Thanks to the excellent innings of these two, Team India crossed the 400-run mark. However, the entire team was all out after scoring 402 runs in 49.5 overs.

Afghanistan’s bowlers also bowled brilliantly. Nangeyalia Kharoti took 4 wickets, while Rashid Khan took 3 wickets. AM Ghazanfar and Mohammad Salim Safi got 1 wicket each. Prince Yadav was run out.

Afghanistan’s innings

Afghanistan had a good start. The team also made small but important partnerships. However, after the fall of the third wicket, their batsmen could not handle their innings and wickets kept falling continuously. On the other hand, Rahmat Shah remained at the crease and scored 79 runs in 89 balls. Sediqullah Atal also added 42 runs in 50 balls. The entire Afghanistan team was all out for 232 runs in 44.3 overs. For this reason India won this match by 170 runs.

 

On the other hand, Indian bowlers were seen in full form. Arshdeep Singh and Gurnoor Brar took 3 wickets each. Prince Yadav got 2 wickets, while Washington Sundar got 1 wicket. Whereas Darvesh Rasooli had to retire and return to the pavilion.
