A three-match T20 series will be played between India and Afghanistan in the month of September. Afghanistan Cricket Board has announced its squad for this series. All the matches of the T20 series will be played at the Arun Jaitley Stadium. Earlier, Afghanistan played a three-match ODI series during the tour of India. However, now a three-match T20 series will be played.

Selection of 15 players in the squad for the series
The Afghanistan Cricket Board has announced 15 players in its squad for the three-match T20I series against India. Also, three players have been kept in reserve. Ibrahim Jadran has been left out of the squad for this series. Afghanistan will play the host of this series. The Indian team will be playing as a visiting team in their own country for the first time. All the matches will be played at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi. The first match will be played on September 13, while the second match will be played on September 15. The last match of the series will be played on September 17.
Naveen Ul Haq's comeback to the team
Fast bowler Naveen-ul-Haq has returned to the Afghanistan team after a long time. He missed the T20 series against West Indies and the 2026 T20 World Cup due to injury. His comeback will strengthen Afghanistan's bowling department. He is experienced and has represented Afghanistan for a long time in IPL and on Indian soil. Fazalhaq Farooqui, Abdullah Ahmadzai and star all-rounder Azmatullah Umarzai will also strengthen the pace department. Apart from Naveen, Gulbadin Naib has also returned to the team.

The series will see both India and Afghanistan prepare for the 2026 Asian Games. The Asian Games will be held in Japan. Both the teams are keeping a close eye on this competition. After the series, both the teams will leave for Japan. Cricket matches in the 2026 Asian Games will begin on September 24. Afghanistan will face Japan and Nepal in Group 'A'.
