IND vs IRE: On the captaincy debut of Shreyas Iyer, Team India had to face defeat in the first T20 match against Ireland.

IND vs IRE, 1st T20I: The first match of the T20 series was played between India and Ireland in Belfast. The Indian team came on the field for the first time after winning the T20 World Cup 2026 title, so the fans expected a better performance from it.

However, Team India disappointed in the very first match (IND vs IRE). Under the captaincy of Shreyas Iyer, India had to face defeat against Ireland. This is not only T20 but also Ireland’s first win against India in international cricket.

IND vs IRE: Even Abhishek Sharma’s half-century could not save India

The Indian team, which set out to chase the target of 183 runs, had a very bad start. Sanju Samson scored 5 runs and Ishan Kishan returned to the pavilion after scoring just 1 run. Captain Shreyas Iyer could also score only 3 runs in the debut match. Abhishek Sharma struggled at one end and scored a half-century, but wickets kept falling at the other end. Abhishek was out after scoring 50 runs, while India had lost five wickets by 90 runs. After this, even the middle order and lower order could not bear the pressure and the entire team was reduced to 148 runs in 18.5 overs.

IND vs IRE: Deadly bowling by Humphreys and Hollard, Jai Mundhra also impressed

Ireland’s bowlers played the most important role in their historic victory (IND vs IRE). Matthew Humphries and Matthew Hollard bowled brilliantly and took three wickets each and broke the back of Indian batting. Jai Mundra of Indian origin, who was debuting in international cricket, also performed brilliantly and took two important wickets. Apart from this, Liam McCarthy and Gareth Delaney also got one success each, due to which India’s batting completely disintegrated.

IND vs IRE: History created with first win, now India will try to level the series

This is Ireland’s first win against India in any format. Before this, the Indian team had never faced defeat from Ireland in ODI and T20 International. With this victory the host team created history. Now the second and last match of the T20 series between the two teams will be played on June 28 in Belfast, where India will look to level the series, while Ireland will take the field with the intention of winning the series.
