India-A performed brilliantly in the second unofficial test played in Galle and defeated Sri Lanka-A by 10 wickets. With this victory, India A won the two-match unofficial Test series 1-0. The biggest hero of the match was fast bowler Gurnoor Brar, who broke the back of Sri Lanka A’s batting by taking 10 wickets in both the innings. This is also the best performance of his short first class career so far.

Gurnoor Brar recently got a chance in the ODI series against Afghanistan. He bowled brilliantly in the 3 ODI series and took a total of 7 wickets. Gurnoor plays domestic cricket for Punjab and due to his tall height and strong frame, he gets extra bounce from the pitch and he showed this in the Test series against Sri Lanka A. After this performance for India-A, there was a hope that Gurnoor might soon enter the Indian Test team.

If we talk about the match played between India-A and Sri Lanka-A, then on the fourth day the visiting team ended its first innings at 541/9. B Sai Sudarshan scored a brilliant 168 runs, while Devdutt Padikkal, Dhruv Jurel and Saransh Jain scored half-centuries. Yash Thakur was the last batsman out and left-arm spinner Keshara Nuwantha took five wickets. Captain Ruturaj Gaikwad did not return to bat on the third day after retiring hurt.

In reply to 541 runs, Sri Lanka A had a very poor start when they came to play the second innings. Aaqib Nabi and Yash Thakur took one wicket each, while Gurnoor Brar gave the first two blows, taking the team to the score of 49/4 in the 11th over itself. In the lower order, Keshara Nuwantha (26), Dilum Sudira (21) and Asanka Manoj (12 not out) added some runs, but the team was reduced to just 209 runs. Brar took six wickets in the second innings, while Saransh Jain sent two batsmen to the pavilion.

India A got the target of only 33 runs to win, which was achieved by B Sai Sudarshan and Aman Mokhade in just 6.2 overs without losing any wicket. Earlier, India A had also won the triangular ODI series played between Afghanistan A and Sri Lanka A on the same tour. Now the team concluded its brilliant tour by winning the Test series also.
