What did the Israeli ambassador say about Pakistan being a mediator?

Israel’s Ambassador to India Reuven Azar has raised questions on Pakistan’s role as a mediator. He said, “I do not think that Pakistan is a reliable mediator. This decision has to be taken by the US. As Israelis, we have to accept that at times the US has achieved results even by working with difficult and conflictual parties.”

Azar further said, “The challenge arises when a mediator is inclined towards a party that has been accused of supporting terrorism, legitimizing it or promoting radicalism. In such cases the situation becomes quite complex.”

He said that in such circumstances, America should be extremely careful, so that it does not fall into any trap that can be laid not only by the opposing side but also by the mediator.
