Salman Khan uses ‘Maatrubhumi’ screening to support co-star Chitrangda
While many stars use private screenings to showcase their films, Salman Khan reportedly had another goal in mind when he recently invited some of Bollywood’s well-known filmmakers to watch his upcoming film Maatrubhumi: May War Rest in Peace.
The patriotic drama, which features the 60-year-old alongside Chitrangda Singh, is largely complete and awaiting a release decision.
At the end of May, the Tiger actor hosted a private screening at his preview theatre in Mumbai’s Khar area for close friends and filmmakers including Subhash Ghai, Kabir Khan and Sooraj Barjatya.
According to reports, the evening received a positive response. Veteran filmmaker Subhash Ghai later described the film as a “must-watch.”

He called it a “warm story of Indo-China soldiers with their respective emotions for their nations and families,” with a focus on peace.
But praise for the film was not what the Wanted actress was reportedly looking for.
“Film ki tareef theek hai,” the actor is said to have told guests before revealing the real reason behind the screening.
The Kick star reportedly wanted filmmakers present to take notice of his co-star Chitrangda Singh and consider her for future projects.
The actress, who earned recognition with Hazaaron Kwaishein Aisi has worked steadily in Hindi cinema over the years. The Bharat lead however, reportedly believes she still has much more to offer.
Sources claim the actor was particularly impressed with Chitrangda’s performance in Maatrubhumi and felt she deserved more opportunities.
He is said to have told the filmmakers that she was “so good in Maatrubhumi” that she should be offered more work.
