History in New Chandigarh: India recorded the biggest win in Test cricket, defeated Afghanistan by an innings and 300 runs.
New Chandigarh (Mallanpur): The Indian Test team has created history at the Maharaja Yadvendra Singh Stadium in New Chandigarh. On the third day of the only test match, Team India defeated Afghanistan by a huge margin of one innings and 300 runs. In terms of runs, this is India’s biggest win so far in the history of Test cricket.

Earlier, India’s biggest win came against West Indies in 2018 (innings and 272 runs, Rajkot). Interestingly, Team India’s third biggest Test win was also against Afghanistan (innings and 262 runs, 2018).
The result was almost decided in the first innings itself.
India’s score: After winning the toss and batting first, the Indian team declared its first innings at the score of 564/8, thanks to the brilliant centuries of captain Shubman Gill (126 runs) and KL Rahul (100 runs). Sai Sudarshan (81), Rishabh Pant (81) and Washington Sundar (52 not out) also scored excellent half-centuries. Mohammad Salim took 6 wickets for Afghanistan, but he could not stop India from scoring big.
Afghan team collapsed in the first innings: Burdened under the burden of runs, Afghanistan’s first innings was reduced to just 152 runs. 23-year-old left arm spinner Manav Suthar, who was playing his debut match for India, created such magic of spin that the Afghan batsmen were forced to kneel. Suthar took 6 wickets for just 33 runs, which was the highest in the last 38
This is the best performance in debut innings by an Indian bowler in years.

Afghanistan was all out for 112 runs in the second innings: Afghans were ineffective even in the follow-on. After falling behind by 412 runs, the Afghanistan team, which came to play follow-on on the third day, could not stand against the Indian spin attack even in the second innings and was all out for just 112 runs.
• Washington Sundar bowled brilliantly in the second innings and took the maximum of 4 wickets (4/36).
• Chinaman Kuldeep Yadav supported him well and took 3 wickets (3/30).
• Manav Suthar and Mohammad Siraj, who were the heroes of the first innings, got 1-1 success. In this way, Manav Suthar made a memorable start by taking a total of 7 wickets in his debut match.
