India became a fire in April, mercury crossed 40, not only humans but also birds started getting scorched.
The scorching heat in the month of April itself has increased the problems of the people across the country. In many states the temperature has crossed 40 degrees Celsius and the effect of heat wave is spreading rapidly. The situation has become so serious that there is no respite from the heat during the day as well as at night.
IMD issued warning
The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a warning saying that heat wave will continue in large parts of North-West and Central India for the next few days. In states like Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Bihar and Gujarat, temperatures are being recorded much above normal. The situation is very bad in many cities.
According to reports, Jhansi, Orchha and Balangir are among the hottest areas of the country. The temperature in New Delhi, Ahmedabad and Guna reached around 40 degrees, while in Nagpur the temperature rose to 42 degrees. Cities like Prayagraj and Dhanbad are also scorching at around 39 degrees.
When does heat wave occur?
According to experts, heat wave conditions occur only when the temperature in the plains goes above 40 degrees. At present the same situation prevails in many parts of the country. Doctors and weather experts have advised people not to leave the house except for essential work, eat light and liquid food and keep the body hydrated. Especially children and the elderly need to be more careful.
According to IMD, the reason for this scorching heat is dry north-westerly winds, clear sky and strong sunlight. Due to these circumstances, the temperature is continuously increasing and there is little hope of getting relief in the coming days. The temperature may also increase further in Bihar, Jharkhand, West Bengal and Odisha.
Pigeons die due to heat wave
The effect of heat is not limited to humans only. Incidents of death of pigeons due to heat wave have come to light in Chhindwara district of Madhya Pradesh, which shows the severity of this season. Apart from this, the incident of land subsidence in Dhanbad, Jharkhand has also increased the concern, where many houses got buried under the ground within no time.
According to a report, 95 of the 100 hottest cities in the world are in India, which makes the current situation more frightening. The heat may become more intense in the coming days. In such a situation, it is very important to be alert and take precautions.
