Digital Desk, Delhi. The women’s badminton team quarter-finals of the Asian Games 2026 is being played between India and host Japan. The first match was between Akane Yamaguchi and PV Sindhu, in which India’s star shuttler had to face defeat 23-21, 18-21, 21-11. In this match, Japan’s lead became 1-0.

Sindhu lost after a good start
Sindhu had made a good start by winning the first game, but Yamaguchi made a brilliant comeback and won the next two games. Sindhu was trailing 15-18 in the first game, but she made a brilliant comeback and scored consecutive points in long rallies to level the score at 18-18.
After this there was a tough competition between the two and the score reached 20-20. Yamaguchi got game point, but his cross-court drop shot went into the net. Taking advantage of this, the Indian shuttlers won the game 23-21 and took a 1-0 lead in the match.

Yamaguchi made a great comeback after losing the first game. They won the second game 21-18 and leveled the match at 1-1. In the third and deciding game also, the Japanese shuttler maintained her dominance and won 21-11.
With this victory, Japan took a 1-0 lead over India in the quarter-final match. Now to stay in the game, India will have to win the next match. The second match is being played between Unnati and Tomoka Miyazaki.
