India had given follow-on to Sri Lanka after declaring the innings at the score of 503 runs for 9 wickets in the first innings. In this situation, Team India had a good chance to win the match and win the series 2-0. However, Sri Lankan batsmen put up a brilliant fight and dashed India's hopes of victory. The host team batted more than 200 overs on a flat pitch and saved the match. With this draw, India had to be content with a 1-0 win in the two-match series.
Team India may have won this series but after the draw of the second Test, there has been no major change in the points table of the World Test Championship (WTC). The Indian team has still not been able to make it to the top-4.
