India signs agreement with Indonesia for supply of BrahMos missile, domestic defense industry will get a boost

Jakarta 7 July. Giving a new height to defense cooperation, an important agreement was signed between India and Indonesia on Tuesday for the supply of BrahMos supersonic cruise missile. Along with this, Indonesia has also agreed to purchase ‘Astra’ air-to-air missile developed in India. These agreements will further strengthen the strategic relations between the two countries, while India’s domestic defense industry will also get a big boost.

The agreements were signed during Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Indonesia, which is the first leg of his three-nation foreign tour. According to the information, India can also provide additional batteries of BrahMos missile to Indonesia in future.

Prime Minister Modi said that the growing trust between the two countries is giving new strength to defence, security and maritime cooperation. He said that both the countries have also agreed to increase defense exchanges, disaster management and industrial cooperation.

Cooperation will also increase in health and election technology

Prime Minister Modi said that after the new agreements, high quality and affordable medicines from India will be more easily available to the citizens of Indonesia. India will also cooperate in training of doctors and health workers there.

Apart from this, both the countries have also signed an agreement on the minerals and technology required for the steel supply chain, which will strengthen the supply chain of important minerals. India will also help in developing specialized electronic voting machines (EVMs) for Indonesia and share electoral technology.
