New Delhi. India has lodged a strong protest with Pakistan regarding the collision of a Pakistani Navy ship with an Indian Navy unit. The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) in New Delhi summoned the Charge d'Affaires of the Pakistan High Commission and lodged an objection over the alleged unacceptable and unprofessional conduct of Pakistani naval units at sea.

The incident occurred in international waters. However, there was no major damage in this incident. India told Pakistan that the conduct of the Pakistani Naval Ship is a direct violation of Article 10 of the agreement signed between India and Pakistan in April 1991. This 1991 agreement relates to military exercises, maneuvers and prior information regarding military activities; In the past too, both countries have referred to Article 10 in the context of maritime incidents.

The Ministry of External Affairs asked Pakistan's Charge d'Affaires to convey India's strong message to the concerned Pakistani authorities. Also, all military units have been advised to exercise caution at sea and respect the relevant agreements signed between the two countries.
India has also stressed the need to prevent recurrence of such incidents. Additionally, the Indian Charge d'Affaires in Islamabad has also been directed to lodge a similar protest with the Pakistan Foreign Ministry.
