Later, when he died, Ritish was arrested. A case of second degree murder has been brought against him. After preliminary investigation, the police said, it is believed that no one else is involved in this murder except Ritish. However, the exact cause of this murder is not yet known, the investigators claim.

Damanpreet’s family members told an all-India media that the young woman went to study in Canada five years ago. A campaign has been launched to bring his body back to India. More than $18,000 was raised.
