India’s first ‘Agniveer Employment Cell’ built in Uttarakhand, new avenues of jobs will open

Uttarakhand: The Uttarakhand government has taken an initiative to protect the country’s borders and secure a respectable future for the returning firefighters after completing four years of national service. The country’s first dedicated ‘Agniveer Employment Cell’ is being established in the state. With this, the youth returning from military service to civilian life can be provided better employment and career opportunities as per their qualifications, discipline and leadership abilities. This step of the Uttarakhand government is not limited to jobs only, but it is a well-planned strategy to link the rigorous training, technical proficiency and military discipline received from the army with the development and industrial progress of the state.

5 major avenues of employment will open

Through the Agniveer Employment Cell, mainly five major career paths are being prepared for the former firefighters.

Government Jobs: Apart from this, 10% reservation and relaxation in maximum age limit will be given for Agniveer.

Central and State Security Forces: Firefighters will be given priority in the selection processes of Uttarakhand Police Recruitment, Forest Service and Central Paramilitary Forces.

Private and Corporate Sector: Employment will be ensured with private industries like defence, logistics, infrastructure, manufacturing, IT and security.

Tourism and Disaster Management: Considering the geographical environment of the state, special deployment and assistance of fire fighters will be provided in tourism schemes like disaster management, adventure sports and homestay.

Self Employed: Youth who want to start their own business or startup will be given financial assistance, subsidies and special grants.

Digital Skills Mapping and Capsule Course

To make this entire system transparent and smooth, online registration of every returning Agniveer will be done. A digital skill bank will be prepared, in which accurate details of their military experience, technical knowledge and professional skills will be recorded. If additional qualification is required as per the need of any industry or department, then capsule and skill upgradation courses of 10 to 15 days will also be organized for the firefighters.

Preparations will be completed before 31 December 2026

The first batch of youth recruited in the age group of 17.5 to 21 years under the Agneepath scheme is completing its four-year tenure on 31 December 2026. According to the rule, 25% of Agniveer will remain in permanent military service, while the remaining 75% will enter civilian life.

Uttarakhand government’s goal

The aim of the Uttarakhand government is to fully implement this employment cell before the first batch returns. Opportunities are being created in more than 50 sectors including tourism, police, sports, agriculture, manufacturing. To maintain administrative pace and take quick decisions, this cell will work under the direct supervision of the Chief Minister’s Office. This initiative of Sanyabhoomi Uttarakhand will also prove to be a model for other states of the country, which will ensure that even after taking off the uniform, the second innings of the firefighters is equally glorious and safe.
