Team India's recent assignment in Sri Lanka ended on a bittersweet note. Not only did they record a 165-run win at Galle International Stadium, but they could only secure a draw at the Sinhalese Sports Club in Colombo, leaving the two-match Test series tied at 1-0. However, despite their valiant efforts, the Indian team is placed fifth in the latest WTC table (for 2025-27), with 51.52 per cent in points after playing 11 matches, five of which they won, four lost, and two drawn.
Nevertheless, the batting line-up has been a sheer delight to watch, as the five best run-scorers have been delivering consistently throughout the competition.

1.Shubman Gill
Captain Shubman Gill has set the benchmark by becoming the first Indian batsman to score over 1,000 runs in the 2025-27 era. Gill has amassed 1,024 runs in 17 innings at an astonishing average of 68.26, including five centuries. The skipper has been in sublime form during the tour of England, scoring 754 runs, which includes a double century (269) and a century (161) in the second innings in Birmingham. He then remained unbeaten for 129 runs against the West Indies in Delhi.
2. KL Rahul
KL Rahul, coming in as the third member of the opening pair, continues to display his poise and shot-making ability as he finishes second with 931 runs in 20 innings at an average of 49.00. Rahul laid the foundation during the England tour with two centuries at Leeds (137) and Lord's (100) and a dogged 90 in Manchester. He followed it up with a century (100) against the West Indies in Ahmedabad and a top-scoring 82 in Galle.
3. Ravindra Jadeja
Equaling Jaiswal's tally but managing to score in fewer innings is yet another feather added to the cap of our very own all-rounder, Ravindra Jadeja. With a total of 790 runs in 18 innings, Jadeja has maintained an outstanding average of 60.76. Scoring a brilliant unbeaten 107 in Manchester to give India a draw was a special innings of his. Apart from that, he also scored four consecutive fifties in England. He concluded his campaign against West Indies in Ahmedabad with a century (104).
4. Yashasvi Jaiswal
The southpaw has made a brilliant start with the bat in 2025. Scoring 790 runs in 20 innings at an average of 39.50, Yashasvi has a strike rate of 38.6. He has scored three centuries and three fifties in his last six Tests. In recent matches, the youngster has batted well in challenging conditions, with 101 at Leeds, 118 at The Oval, and a commanding 175 against the West Indies in Delhi. However, he did not score a half-century in Sri Lanka.
5. Rishabh Pant
Back in form with fireworks, Rishabh Pant is in the fifth spot. He has scored 696 runs in 14 innings at an excellent average of 49.71. The wicketkeeper-batter scored two centuries (134 and 118) in the same Test against England at Leeds in June 2025. After a rain-hit and low-scoring series in South Africa at home, Pant found his touch in Sri Lanka with three crucial knocks of 39, 66, and 63.
