New Delhi. Vaibhav Suryavanshi, the stand-in captain of East Zone, did something which has now become a topic of discussion in the Duleep Trophy semi-final against Central Zone in Bengaluru on Sunday. Suryavanshi was very happy to get the opportunity to captain the team after Captain Ishan Kishan injured his finger in the 19th over. What was even more interesting was that as captain, this young man also got the opportunity to take the first review for the team.

Let us tell you that that moment in the 40th over is quite funny when fast bowler Mukesh Kumar convinced Suryavanshi to challenge the catch-behind appeal, which was rejected, after which he took a review. Suryavanshi, who was fielding in the slips, was among those who believed that Central zone batsman Aryan Juyal had edged the length delivery. When the on-field umpire made no decision, Vaibhav asked for a review and the decision was sent up.

Suryavanshi's review proved correct
The East Zone stand-in captain and Mukesh were delighted to see that replays showed a clear error in the ultra-edge when the ball passed the bat, which showed that the ball was edged. The on-field umpire had to change the decision, due to which Suryavanshi's guess was proved correct. The 15-year-old was clearly very happy to get his first review correct.
The on-air commentator also praised the youngster for staying on, and said that he had not heard anything on the stump microphone. Wicketkeeper Kumar Kushagra, who took up the gloves in Kishan's absence, was equally ecstatic after playing his part in convincing Suryavanshi to step up.
This was Suryavanshi's first experience of captaincy at this level. He was made the East Zone vice-captain for the Duleep Trophy, a zone-based red-ball domestic tournament, and led the side for about 20 overs before Kishan, who had his fingers taped, returned to the field. However, Kishan did not resume wicketkeeping after returning.
