Safe landing on runway 25
The pilot realized the seriousness of the situation and informed ATC. The aircraft then made a safe landing on Runway No. 25 at 11:37 PM. Officials informed that all 224 people on the plane are safe. A major disaster was averted as the plane landed safely. After this, the 'full emergency' was lifted at 11:47 pm after the situation was brought under control. Other operations at the airport were not significantly affected by the incident and all services continued as normal.
Discussions on flight safety after the Air India turbulence incident
In the wake of the IndiGo incident, the issue of flight safety has again come under discussion. A few days ago, an Air India flight coming from Phuket to Delhi faced severe turbulence in the air. Many passengers were injured in this incident. The investigation after the incident reportedly revealed a serious matter related to the pilot's medical/drug test. According to reports, the pilot concerned has been suspected of consuming marijuana, and both pilots have been suspended from flying duties pending the completion of the investigation.
Ministry of Civil Aviation meeting with Air India
Meanwhile, of Air India Senior civil aviation ministry officials held a meeting with Air India CEO Campbell Wilson on Tuesday on security matters. Civil Aviation Secretary Sameer Kumar Sinha, Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) Veer Vikram Yadav and Director General of Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB) G.V.G. Yugandhar along with senior officials were present. On the Air India side, senior officials from the Tata Group as well as Air India's Head of Flight Safety also participated in the meeting.
