Desk. A major fire on an Indonesian ferry has caused a major accident. Five people have been reported dead so far, while 41 are missing. Search and rescue officials said 271 people were aboard. According to the national search and rescue agency, Basarnas, the ship was traveling from Surabaya in East Java to Makassar in South Sulawesi when the captain reported the fire.
Surabaya, Indonesia’s second-largest city, is the site of a fire on a ferry leaving the area. The fire caused panic and screaming. Rescue teams are currently working to rescue the survivors. However, it’s not yet clear how the ferry caught fire. This incident occurred this morning (Sunday).

According to officials, as soon as the news of the accident was received, several rescue boats, coast guard ships and medical teams reached the spot. During the rescue operation, many passengers were rescued safely from the sea, while the search operation is going on to find the missing people. According to the administration, a special team will be formed for investigation, which will find out whether the fire broke out due to technical fault, engine problem or any other reason. The operation to rescue all the passengers continued without stopping. Last year in July also, a passenger ship caught fire in Indonesia. More than 300 people were on board this ship. Videos of the ship burning fiercely had surfaced.
