Instead of throwing away watermelon peel, make tutti-frutti from it, know the recipe here…
Lifestyle Desk – In summer, we all like watermelon very much and we not only eat it as a fruit, but also make many types of desserts from it. The red parts of watermelon are very sweet to eat but we often throw away the white peel of watermelon considering it useless, whereas delicious and healthy tutti-frutti can be made from it. It is not only economical but is also purer than the market one. It does not contain any kind of preservative nor does it contain much sugar. So let us know how to make Tutti Frutti at home.
Material
White rind of watermelon (removing the green hard part)
Sugar – 1 cup
Water – 1 cup
Food color (red, green, yellow)
Vanilla essence – few drops

Method
- Remove the green hard part of the watermelon peels and cut the white part into small cubes. Boil the cut pieces in water for 5–7 minutes, so that they become slightly soft. Then filter the water.
- Prepare syrup by adding 1 cup water and 1 cup sugar in a pan.
- Put the boiled peels in the syrup and cook for 10-15 minutes, until they start appearing a little transparent.
- Now divide the mixture in different bowls and add food color of your choice. If you want, you can also add vanilla essence.
- Spread them on a plate or tray and let them dry for 1–2 days (in the sun or under a fan). After drying, they will become exactly like market-like tutti-frutti.
Use
- cakes, cookies, bread
- Decoration in ice cream, custard
- To garnish fruit salad or dessert
