KNews Desk: The month of August brought tremendous excitement in the primary market of the Indian stock market. During this period, investors were so crazy about IPO that 10 out of 23 issues received more than 100 times the bids than the shares offered. This figure is the highest in any single month since 2006. Strong participation was seen from all categories, from retail investors to HNIs and QIBs.
Most talked about in August Hy-Tech Engineers Of the IPO. The company's issue received bids of 244.41 times the shares offered. after this Tempens Instruments India 183.53 times and ESDS Software Solutions Got 135.88 times subscription. Apart from this, the IPOs of Ardi Industries, Lumino Industries, Augmont Enterprises, Bihari Lal Engineering, Sunshine Pictures, ShipRocket and Priority Jewels also received more than 100 times the bids.
This tremendous response from investors went beyond the previous record. In September 2024, seven IPOs received more than 100 times subscription, while in January 2025 there were five such IPOs. This number increased to 10 in August 2026. Many reasons are believed to be behind this increase. Investors were attracted by the companies' strong balance sheets, attractive valuations and potential listing gains. Strong applications were seen in small and mid-cap issues, especially from retail and HNI investors. At the same time, strong participation of QIBs also supported the IPO market.
The surge in August has taken the number of IPOs that have received more than 100 times subscription so far in 2026 to 15. Three issues in July and two in June have crossed this figure. Bharat Coking Coal was the only IPO to do so in January. If compared with previous years, 23 of the 91 IPOs launched in 2024 were subscribed more than 100 times. In 2021, 17 out of 63 issues had crossed this figure. In 2025, a record was made in terms of raising funds through IPO and out of 103 IPOs, 15 received more than 100 times the bids. The figures of August 2026 show that the interest of domestic investors in IPO is continuously increasing. Now the market is eyeing the big mainboard IPOs to be launched in September and the coming months. The question is whether the record breaking demand like in August will continue or this storm of the IPO market will subside soon.
