Apple has officially introduced iPhone Duo, the company’s first-ever foldable iPhone, featuring a breakthrough design, dual displays, the A20 Pro chip, an advanced camera system and Apple Intelligence with the all-new Siri AI.
When unfolded, iPhone Duo features a 7.6-inch inner display, making it the largest display ever offered on an iPhone. When folded, the device has a compact 5.4-inch outer display, designed for one-handed use and easy portability.
The iPhone Duo will be available in star white and night sky and comes with 256GB, 512GB, 1TB and 2TB storage options.
iPhone Duo price in India
The iPhone Duo starts at ₹2,99,900 in India for the 256GB model. It will also be available in 512GB, 1TB and 2TB storage variants.
Apple will open pre-orders in India on Friday, October 16, at 5 a.m. PT, with the foldable iPhone going on sale from Friday, October 23. The device will launch in 28 additional countries and regions from October 30.

iPhone Duo gets two displays
The foldable iPhone features a 5.4-inch Super Retina XDR outer display when closed and a 7.6-inch Super Retina XDR inner display when opened.
Apple says the inner display is 50 per cent larger than the iPhone 18 Pro Max, offering a bigger canvas for watching content, gaming and multitasking. Both displays have the same aspect ratio, allowing content to scale proportionally between the two screens.
The displays also support ProMotion, Always-On display and up to 3,000 nits of peak outdoor brightness. A nano-texture finish helps reduce glare and reflections while also minimising the visibility of the crease.
Built for durability
Apple has focused heavily on the durability of iPhone Duo. The device uses grade 5 titanium, a precision-engineered hinge and Ceramic Shield protection.
The front features Ceramic Shield 2, which Apple says provides three times better scratch resistance than the previous generation. The phone also has an IP68 rating for splash, water and dust resistance.
The hinge consists of more than 100 components designed to control the opening and closing motion while supporting the centre of the folding display.
Advanced camera system
iPhone Duo features a 48MP Fusion Main camera capable of capturing photographs at up to 48MP resolution. It also supports an integrated optical-quality 2x Telephoto option.
The camera uses a new computational imaging pipeline and is designed to perform better in low-light conditions.
A 48MP Fusion Ultra Wide camera supports wider shots and macro photography, while the new Center Stage front camera can automatically frame photos and videos in different orientations.
The foldable design also introduces several new camera experiences.
Smart Take uses on-device AI to analyse a scene and automatically capture photographs when subjects are ready. Users can also take selfies using the rear cameras while previewing the image on the outer display.
Other features include Duo Preview, which lets subjects see the live camera preview, and Duo FaceTime, which allows people to join a video call using the outer display.
For video recording, iPhone Duo supports 4K video at 120fps in Dolby Vision using the 48MP Fusion Main camera. Users can also apply Cinematic effects after recording and use enhanced Audio Mix features.
iOS 27 redesigned for the foldable iPhone
iOS 27 has been adapted specifically for the foldable design. Apple has moved several controls, including Lock Screen controls, the Home Screen Dock and app navigation, to make better use of the available screen space.
When the phone is unfolded, users can view two Home Screen pages alongside Today View widgets.
The larger display also enables new multitasking features. Split View allows two apps to be used side by side for the first time on iPhone. Users can also save pairs of apps and open two windows of the same app.
Apple Intelligence and Siri AI
iPhone Duo also brings Apple’s next-generation Apple Intelligence features and the all-new Siri AI.
Siri AI can use personal context to help users find information across messages, emails and photos. It can also understand what is displayed on the screen and take actions based on that content.
Apple Intelligence also brings features such as Spatial Reframing, Extend and an upgraded Clean Up tool for photos. Image Playground now supports photorealistic imagery, while Safari’s Notify Me feature can alert users when information on a webpage changes.
A20 Pro chip and improved performance
The iPhone Duo is powered by the A20 Pro chip, the same processor used in the iPhone 18 Pro models.
Apple says the device delivers up to 35 per cent better sustained performance than the iPhone 17 Pro. The six-core CPU is up to 20 per cent faster than the A19 Pro, while the seven-core GPU is up to 40 per cent faster.
The A20 Pro also features a Dual 16-core Neural Engine with twice the compute power for on-device AI workloads.
Battery life
iPhone Duo uses a dual-battery architecture, with one high-energy battery positioned on each side of the device.
Apple says the phone delivers up to 31 hours of video playback using the inner display and up to 44 hours using the outer display. When both displays are used equally, the device provides up to 24 hours of usage per charge.
The phone can charge up to 50 per cent in around 20 minutes and supports wireless charging up to 50 per cent in around 30 minutes with a compatible MagSafe or Qi2 charger.
iPhone Duo is eSIM-only
The iPhone Duo features an eSIM-only design worldwide, allowing Apple to use the internal space previously occupied by a physical SIM to maximise battery capacity.
eSIM support includes major Indian carriers such as Airtel, Jio and Vi, according to Apple. The phone also supports Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6 and Thread through Apple’s N1 wireless networking chip.
iPhone Duo accessories
Apple has also introduced new accessories for the foldable iPhone.
The iPhone Duo Case will cost ₹8,900 in India, while the iPhone Duo Folio with Kickstand will cost ₹14,900. Both will be available to order from October 16.
