IPL 2026: Gujarat defeated Punjab by 4 wickets in a thrilling match
The 46th match of IPL 2026 proved to be very exciting for the spectators, in which Gujarat Titans showed a brilliant performance in the last moments and defeated Punjab Kings by 4 wickets. Batting first in the match, Punjab team had scored 163 runs by losing 9 wickets in the stipulated 20 overs, in response to which Gujarat achieved the target by losing 6 wickets.
Gill returned cheaply
Gujarat Titans’ start to chase the target was not as expected. In the very second over of the innings, Arshdeep Singh gave the first blow to the team by dismissing captain Shubhman Gill cheaply. Gill returned after scoring just 5 runs. After this, Sai Sudarshan and Jos Buttler took charge of the innings and made an important partnership of 53 runs for the second wicket. However, this partnership did not last long and Vijaykumar Vishak gave the second blow to Gujarat by dismissing Butler. Butler scored 26 runs.
After this, Gujarat’s innings appeared to be faltering. Marcus Stoinis gave the third blow to the team by dismissing Nishant Sandhu. Nishant returned to the pavilion after scoring 15 runs. After this, Sai Sudarshan continued to hold one end, but Vijaykumar Vishak gave a big success to Punjab by dismissing him also. Sudarshan played an important inning of 57 runs, due to which the team remained in the competition.
Marcus Stoinis scored 40 runs
On the other hand, if we talk about the batting of Punjab Kings, the team gave a struggling performance after losing the toss and batting first. Suryansh Shedge scored a brilliant half-century and scored 57 runs in 29 balls and played an important role in taking the team to a respectable score. Apart from him, Marcus Stoinis scored 40 runs, while Marco Jansen and Shreyas Iyer contributed 20 and 19 runs respectively.
Jason Holder was the most successful in bowling for Gujarat, taking 4 wickets. Whereas Mohammad Siraj and Kagiso Rabada took 2-2 wickets. Rashid Khan also got a success. Ultimately, Gujarat Titans won this match on the basis of balanced performance.
