IPL 2026: Krishna Bhagat included in Mumbai Indians, will replace Atharva Ankolekar
Mumbai Indians have included Krishna Bhagat in the squad for IPL 2026 in place of Atharva Ankolekar, who has been ruled out of IPL 2026.
Krishna Bhagat, a 21-year-old right-handed all-rounder who plays for Punjab, will bring a new energy to the Mumbai Indians squad. He is a right-arm fast bowler and can also contribute as a lower-order batsman. Krishna has taken part in Mumbai Indians’ trials over the past few years, and he also played in the DY Patil T20 Cup for the Reliance team in 2026. Apart from this, he has also trained with Mumbai Indians as a support bowler since this season’s pre-season.
Atharva Ankolekar, a left-arm spin all-rounder, was part of India’s Under-19 World Cup squad and was man of the match in the ACC Under-19 Asia Cup final against Bangladesh in 2019.
Krishna Bhagat has signed a deal with Mumbai Indians for his base price of Rs 30 lakh.
According to a press release from the franchise, Krishna has impressed the Mumbai Indians coaching staff with his hard work, dedication and the quality he has shown in every practice session and match. His commitment and continued development in practice sessions with Mumbai Indians this season has made him worthy of this opportunity.
Currently, Hardik Pandya-led Mumbai Indians are ninth in the points table, with only one win from four matches to their name. After a win at the start of the season, the five-time champion team has suffered three consecutive defeats.
Now, Mumbai Indians will play their next IPL match against Punjab Kings at the Wankhede Stadium on Thursday.
