IPL 2026: RR manager Romi Bhinder faces heavy consequences for using phone in the dugout, BCCI imposes fine of Rs 1 lakh

IPL 2026: A disciplinary case has come to light in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has taken strict action against Rajasthan Royals (RR) team manager Romi Bhinder. He has been fined Rs 1 lakh for using mobile phone in the dugout.

Actually, this incident happened during the match played between Rajasthan Royals and Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in Guwahati. Romi Bhinder was seen using the phone in the dugout on TV cameras.

According to IPL rules, carrying and using mobile phones in the Players and Match Officials Area (PMOA) is completely prohibited. This rule has been made to prevent any kind of irregularities or corruption in the match.

BCCI action

BCCI’s Anti Corruption Unit (ACU) sought clarification from Romi Bhinder in this matter. Bhinder presented his side, but the board was not completely satisfied with his answer. BCCI Secretary Devjit Saikia also confirmed the matter. Ultimately, the disciplinary committee imposed a fine of Rs 1 lakh on Bhinder and gave a strict warning not to repeat such a mistake in future.

Romi Bhinder’s cleaning

Giving clarification, Romi Bhinder said that recently she had a serious lung problem (collapsed lung). Doctors had advised him to avoid traveling too much. It was difficult for him to go to the dressing room again and again, so he used the phone sitting nearby.

He also said that the use of the phone was not for any personal or wrongdoing, but for necessary official communication with the team management and BCCI. Many important things in IPL happen on platforms like WhatsApp, so it was important to keep the phone close.

Clear message from BCCI

BCCI reiterated that it is very important to follow the rules in a big tournament like IPL. Use of phones in PMOA area can increase the possibility of corruption. The board made it clear that even if the intentions are good, there will be no exemption for breaking the rules. BCCI has given this strict warning to all the people associated with IPL. This rule applies to everyone.
