Iran is ready to open Hormuz, put a big condition before America?
There may not be direct signs of a second round of talks between Iran and America, but efforts are underway for a backdoor peace agreement. Amid ongoing tensions between the US and Iran, Tehran has sent a new peace proposal to the US to reopen the Strait of Hormuz and end the war.
Iran has made a new proposal to the US through Pakistani mediators to reopen the Strait of Hormuz and end the war, with nuclear talks postponed to a later stage, Axios reported on Sunday, citing a US official and two sources familiar with the matter.
According to the report of Axios, the new peace proposal sent by Iran to America mainly includes reopening of the Strait of Hormuz, new conditions regarding nuclear talks and ceasefire and removal of the blockade. According to the report, Iran is ready to reopen the Strait of Hormuz. Under the proposal, an agreement can be reached to extend the ceasefire for a longer period or end the war permanently.
Iran proposes that nuclear talks be postponed for now and started at a later stage. Iran says that nuclear talks will start only when the waterways are opened and the economic blockade is completely lifted. At the same time, Iran’s Foreign Minister Araghchi made it clear to the mediators that there is no consensus among Iran’s leadership regarding Trump’s demands on rich uranium.
According to sources, the White House has received this proposal. However, it is not yet clear whether the US administration is ready to consider these conditions of Iran or not. At the same time, if the Strait of Hormuz opens, the global oil supply can get a big relief.
US President Donald Trump is going to hold an important meeting with his top national security and foreign policy team in the ‘Situation Room’ on Monday (April 27). According to Axios report, the main agenda of this meeting will be to discuss the ongoing tension with Iran and options for the next steps of the war.
