Iran launches missile attack on UAE oil tankers, 1 Indian sailor killed, 8 others injured
Dubai. Amidst the ongoing heavy military tension in West Asia, a very serious incident has been witnessed in the Strait of Hormuz near Oman. An Indian crew member has died in a cruise missile attack by Iran on two national oil tankers of the United Arab Emirates. Eight other sailors including six Indians have been injured in these attacks. After this attack, the war-like situation between America and Iran has deepened.

Tankers targeted with cruise missiles
According to an official statement from the UAE Defense Ministry, the incident occurred on Tuesday morning when two UAE-flagged national oil tankers ‘Mombassa’ and ‘Al Bahiyah’ were passing through the southern navigation route of the Strait of Hormuz in Oman’s territorial waters. Meanwhile, two cruise missiles were fired from Iran, which directly hit these ships. Let us tell you that as soon as the missile hit, a massive fire broke out in both the tankers, causing huge damage to the ships. However, after hard work the fire was brought under control. The Defense Ministry has confirmed that the deceased Indian sailor was aboard the tanker ‘Mombasa’. These injured include 6 Indians and 2 Ukrainian citizens.
Strict action by Indian government
Taking a tough stand on this incident, the Indian Ministry of External Affairs has ordered the immediate presence of Iran’s Deputy Chief of Mission (DCM) ‘Mohammad Javad Hosseini’ in the capital. India has expressed its strong protest to Iran over the targeting of Indian sailors and has sought complete information about the matter.

UAE warned of retaliatory action
The UAE administration has described this attack as a gross violation of international law and a flagrant attack. The UAE Defense Ministry warned that the UAE reserves the right to respond to this dangerous provocation and take all necessary measures to protect its sovereignty, territories, citizens and national interests. After this incident, the security alert has been raised to the highest level in the entire area.
Iran’s claim
Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) took responsibility for the attack and gave a statement in which the Iranian military alleges that these two commercial ships had ignored the continuous warnings given by them. Iran claims the tankers had turned off their navigation tracking systems and were attempting to illegally pass through a sensitive sea route where mines were laid.

Due to this attack, the atmosphere of tension in the entire area is at its peak. On the other hand, after this attack in the Strait of Hormuz, which is considered the lifeline for global oil supply, the possibility of increasing pressure on crude oil prices in the international market has intensified.
