IRCTC New Chairman: Former Chairman and Managing Director of Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation i.e. IRCTC Sanjay Kumar Jain has resigned. The Ministry of Railways has subsequently given Rahul Himalian the additional charge of the post of CMD of IRCTC. He will assume this new post from 20th July 2026. Rahul Himalian is currently working as Director Tourism and Marketing at IRCTC.

Over 26 years of experience in Railways

Rahul Himalian is a very senior and respected officer of 1999 batch of Indian Railway Traffic Service i.e. IRTS. He has more than 26 years of experience working in Indian Railways and IRCTC. He has been on the Board of Directors of IRCTC since 16 February 2024 and has headed key departments such as Tourism, IT, Human Resources, Infrastructure and Administration.

Gold medalist in studies

Rahul Himalian’s academic performance is also excellent.
He was the head boy and best student in his school (The Lawrence School).
He graduated in electrical engineering from NIT Hamirpur, where he received a gold medal.
He then pursued his Masters (M.Tech) from IIT Delhi, where he secured a perfect CGPA of 10 out of 10.
He was also honored with the prestigious ‘President’s Gold Medal’ for his outstanding performance.

This responsibility will also be taken care of

With the additional charge of CMD, Rahul Himalayan will now be responsible for operational, policy and organizational leadership of IRCTC. He will also continue to perform his current duties as Director Tourism and Marketing.
