A very big and relieving news has come for crores of railway passengers traveling every day through Indian Railways across the country. To make online train ticket booking easier, transparent and superfast than ever before, Railways is soon going to launch the beta version of the brand new and high-tech website of IRCTC. As per the earlier instructions given by Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, this much awaited new website has been launched. 15 July 2026 will be officially released to the general public.

In this series, on July 10, top officials of IRCTC and CRIS gave a live demo of the beta version of this new portal in front of the students of the prestigious Malviya National Institute of Technology (MNIT), Jaipur and sought their important feedback from the students. Let us tell you that a few weeks ago, the students of MNIT Jaipur had met the Railway Minister and highlighted the shortcomings of ticket booking in the existing website, after which the Railway Minister on the spot gave strict instructions to the officials to prepare a new portal within 30 days.

These 4 big revolutionary changes will be seen in the new IRCTC website.

According to railway officials, four major technical improvements have been made mainly for the convenience of passengers in the newly redesigned portal, which will completely change your ticket booking experience:

  • 1. Freedom from unnecessary CAPTCHA and pop-ups: Often during Tatkal Ticket Booking or peak hours, passengers were troubled by repeated captcha codes and unwanted pop-ups with advertisements, due to which the seats got filled even before the tickets were booked. This technical problem has been completely resolved in the new website. Now the transaction will be completed faster without any distraction and unnecessary captcha.

  • 2. Information about seats of all classes on single screen: The interface of the new website has been made very clean and modern. Now passengers will see real-time information about seats available in their favorite train across all classes (eg 1AC, 2AC, 3AC, Sleeper) simultaneously on the same main screen, saving time of repeatedly clicking on different classes.

  • 3. Superfast Checkout and Less Steps: The new booking engine has been optimized in such a way that you have to follow fewer steps to confirm your ticket than before. While in the current system around 32,000 tickets are booked per minute, the new advanced system will increase the capacity. 1.5 lakh tickets per minute Will be able to process more than.

  • 4. Facility to save passenger details: While booking tickets, passengers will not have to fill lengthy information like name, age, gender and birth preference again and again. Passenger data will be saved completely securely in the user profile, due to which Tatkal tickets can be booked very fast in a single click. In addition to this ‘Make Calendar’ And support of more than one language (Multilingual Interface) has also been added.

40 year old Passenger Reservation System (PRS) will also be upgraded

Railways is not only changing the face of the external website, but the nearly 40 year old traditional Passenger Reservation System (PRS) working in its backend is also being completely overhauled. The new and modern PRS engine is being directly linked with the new website of IRCTC.

After this upgradation, common passengers will get accurate information about ticket booking, refund cancellation, PNR Inquiry and live train status in the blink of an eye. The power of the new system can be gauged from the fact that it will directly increase the capacity of PNR inquiries from 4 lakh. 40 lakh queries per minute Will increase till. Since this huge digital upgradation is being done while keeping the Railways running, it may take an additional few months for the fully functional final portal to be fully set up, but the beta version starting from July 15 is going to be a huge relief to the passengers.
