Is Pete Hegseth ‘misleading’ Trump? Report reveals misinformation about Iran war
Desk: Amid ongoing tensions between the US and Iran, reports of internal divisions within the Trump administration are emerging. According to a report, Vice President J.D. Vance suspects that the Pentagon is not providing President Donald Trump with accurate information about the ground realities of the war.
Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth and Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff General Dan Kaine have lavished praise on the US military’s performance in the eight-week conflict, asserting that they have destroyed Iran’s air force, navy, and defense infrastructure, and that US weapons stockpiles remain substantial. However, according to a report in The Atlantic, J.D. Vance has repeatedly questioned these claims in closed-door meetings.
According to the report, Vance believes that the picture of war being presented to Trump may be far from the truth. He is particularly concerned about the severe depletion of US missile stockpiles. Citing senior administration officials, the report said Vance expressed concern about the availability of missile systems. He believes that if they continue to be used in the Iran war, the US will not have sufficient resources to defend them in potential future conflicts with China, North Korea, or Russia.
It is claimed that J.D. Vance was opposed to Operation Epic Fury from the beginning, warning of its potential downsides. It’s worth noting that Vance led the first round of peace talks in Islamabad, Pakistan, which failed. The second round of talks has also been canceled this week. It’s also worth noting that J.D. Vance publicly praises Hegseth, but reportedly reveals details of the strategic plan in private meetings. Some officials say Hegseth says only what President Trump wants to hear.
