Smiling Friends Season 2 has already aired (it premiered in 2024), and the series as a whole has concluded after Season 3 with its final two episodes.

It has been greenlighted on February 9, 2022, about a month after the series premiere.
A special premiere episode (“Gwimbly: Definitive Remastered Enhanced Extended Edition DX 4K (Anniversary Director’s Cut)”) aired on Adult Swim on April 1, 2024 (as part of an April Fools’ stunt with puppet versions of prior episodes). The main run of Season 2 (8 episodes total) began airing weekly on May 12/13, 2024, at midnight ET/PT on Adult Swim, with next-day availability on Max. It wrapped up around late June 2024.
Episodic stories focused on Pim, Charlie, Allan, Glep, and Mr. Boss helping clients in bizarre, surreal situations, with guest characters like Gwimbly and various animation style experiments/cameos.6317da
Later Seasons and Current Status (as of April 2026)
Season 3: Premiered in fall 2025 (around October 5), with its initial run ending November 30, 2025. It had about 8–10 episodes.
Renewals for more seasons: Adult Swim renewed it for Seasons 4 and 5 in June 2025.
On February 25, 2026, creators Michael Cusack and Zach Hadel announced in a video (posted via Adult Swim) that Smiling Friends would conclude after Season 3 due to burnout after years of work—they felt accomplished but ready to move on to other projects. Adult Swim was supportive and did not force more episodes.
Final episodes: Two additional unreleased “straggler” or “rogue planet” episodes from Season 3 production (“Friend-Bot (Version 12589218731809213528796879521)” and “Charlie’s Uncle Dies and Doesn’t Come Back”) aired back-to-back on April 12, 2026, at 11 p.m. ET on Adult Swim (available on Max the next day). These are standalone, not a grand finale.
The creators have left the door slightly open for future specials or a return if inspiration strikes, but there are no current plans for Seasons 4 or 5.
