Macron’s warning: French President Emmanuel Macron has expressed his concern over the future of this ceasefire. He says that due to the ongoing tension at the ground level, this agreement already appears to be weakening. However, Macron has appealed to both sides to exercise restraint.
Allegations of violation: The Lebanese army has alleged that Israeli forces have violated the agreement by shelling some border villages in southern Lebanon. On the other hand, Israel says that it is only taking action against suspicious activities.
Return of citizens: Thousands of people displaced from southern Lebanon have returned to their homes as the ceasefire comes into force, with celebrations taking place on the streets of cities such as Beirut and Sidon.
Iran’s stance: Iran has also welcomed this ceasefire. This decision is being considered as the first step towards a major peace agreement in the region. It is being speculated that a big deal may soon be made between Iran and America regarding the nuclear program.
