Israel Lebanon Update: Israel announces to stop firing in Lebanon, but army will remain deployed on the border
There has been a new turn in the war between Lebanon and Israel. Israel on Friday announced to stop firing in Lebanon, but its army will not retreat from there. A new ceasefire agreement has been agreed after mediation by America, Qatar and Iran.

Israel’s Army (IDF) has made it clear that it will maintain its presence in the southern areas of Lebanon. According to a map released on June 18, the Israeli army will be deployed about 10 kilometers inside the Lebanese border. This decision has been taken despite an agreement between America and Iran.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stated on June 19 that his forces would remain deployed in Lebanon’s security zone until the threat was completely eliminated. He said that this step is necessary for the safety of the communities living in the northern areas. Israel has also asked the Lebanese Army (LAF) to coordinate during this period.
However, this peace agreement does not seem to be completely successful. On June 20, IDF spokesman Brigadier General Effie Defrin said that there was a ceasefire violation by Hezbollah, in which four Israeli soldiers were killed. He made it clear that the army will continue its operations to remove and respond to threats.
On the other hand, Hezbollah says that the presence of Israeli forces on Lebanese soil is a violation of the agreement. Due to this tension, Iran has also delayed technical talks with America. American intelligence agencies believe that Israel may take military action against Hezbollah in the future.
So far, 47 people have died in Lebanon in this entire conflict, while 4 Israeli soldiers have lost their lives.
