Jammu and Kashmir: Flood-landslide in Kishtwar-Doda, water entered Kwar Hydro Project complex; Rescue continues amid heavy devastation
Jammu. Many vehicles have been buried under debris due to massive landslides and flash floods caused by heavy rains near the 540 MW Kwar Hydroelectric Power Project in Kishtwar district of Jammu and Kashmir. Official sources said that vehicles were buried under the debris and many vehicles were badly damaged.
Relief and rescue operations continue
“Rescue teams and heavy machinery have been pressed into service to rescue the affected vehicles and normalize traffic in the area,” he said. Flash floods have also wreaked havoc in some parts of Doda district, affecting normal life and causing damage at many places. “There are no reports of any casualties at this time,” he said.
Union Minister took information about the situation Union Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh said in a post on ‘X’: “After receiving the report from Kishtwar, I spoke to Divisional Deputy Commissioner Ramesh Kumar. The news was that the water of flash flood has entered the premises of the under construction 540 MW Kwar Hydroelectric Project.”
He further posted, “The good thing is that there is no loss of life or property. Some machinery related to the project has also been removed without any damage. Overall, every part of the project under construction is safe and there is no damage to it.”
