Jammu. Three-four laborers were buried under the debris after a part of a small bridge collapsed on Friday in Bantlab on the outskirts of Jammu city, while an injured laborer was taken out. Authorities closed road connectivity after part of the bridge collapsed. According to sources, the incident occurred when workers were doing repair work on a wall near the bridge. This wall was damaged in the flood last year. He said that a part of the bridge suddenly collapsed, due to which the workers working at the spot were buried under the debris.
Police, Army and State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) teams conducted rescue operations to rescue people buried under the debris. Sources said that rescue workers pulled out an injured laborer and admitted him to the hospital. Family members of the workers present at the spot said that about six workers working there were buried under the debris after the structure collapsed.
He said two workers managed to escape but four workers were trapped. According to sources, those trapped include the husband of a woman labourer, a mason, an unmarried laborer and a relative of the contractor. Till the time of writing the news, the exact number of people trapped under the debris had not been officially confirmed. The rescue operation is going on.
