MP cruise boat accident: Three including pilot dismissed, boat club manager suspended

Bhopal. Madhya Pradesh government, taking action after the cruise boat accident in Bargi Dam in Jabalpur district, has dismissed three employees including the pilot and suspended the boat club manager. Nine people had died in this accident.

An official said on Friday that the services of cruise pilot Mahesh Patel, assistant Chhotalal Gond and ticket counter in-charge Brijendra have been terminated after they were found responsible for negligence. He said that Sunil Maravi, manager of Hotel Maikal Resort and Boat Club Bargi, has been suspended on charges of negligence.

According to the official, Regional Manager Sanjay Malhotra has been transferred and sent to the Tourism Department Headquarters in Bhopal and a departmental inquiry has also been initiated against him. It is noteworthy that on Thursday evening, nine people died while 28 others were saved when a cruise boat capsized in this dam built on the Narmada river during a strong storm.
