Influencer Swatantra Bhardwaj, arrested in the case of alleged attack on the father of a student activist at Delhi's Jantar Mantar, has got relief from the court. The court has now granted him regular bail. Earlier, the court had granted interim bail of three weeks to Swatantra Bhardwaj with strict conditions. After the completion of the interim bail period, the case was heard, after which the court granted him regular bail. Swatantra Bhardwaj was arrested in connection with the alleged assault on the father of a student activist at Jantar Mantar. Further legal process is going on regarding police action and allegations in the case.
Interim bail was granted on 15 September
Earlier, on September 15, a Delhi court had granted interim bail of three weeks to Swatantra Bhardwaj. The court had said that his behavior will be monitored during this period and after that the regular bail plea will be considered. While granting interim relief, the Sessions Judge had imposed several conditions on Bhardwaj. These included a ban on posting or discussing anything related to the case, one's defense or the complainant's family on social media or any other platform. Now after the interim bail period, the court has granted regular bail to Swatantra Bhardwaj in the case.
Swatantra Bhardwaj was detained on September 4
Swatantra Bhardwaj was detained in Bulandshahr on September 4, hours after Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) workers protested outside Sansad Marg police station demanding his arrest in the alleged assault case. This action was taken after an interview of Bhardwaj. In the interview, Bhardwaj had claimed that during the protest on June 23, he had attacked the student's father and 'broken his head'. He had also claimed that he was avoiding arrest because of his political connections.
